Want to train your team on AI, the cloud or a new system? The Ministry of Labour's 人材開発支援助成金 covers part of the course fee and wages during training. For digitalization projects the most relevant course is the 事業展開等リスキリング支援コース (reskilling for business development).
SME amounts (fiscal 2026)
- Course costs: 75% (large companies 60%).
- Wages during training: ¥1,000 per person per hour (e-learning gets course costs only).
- Course cost cap per person: ¥300,000 (10–100 h), ¥400,000 (100–200 h), ¥500,000 (200 h+).
- Equipment add-on: 50% of introduction costs, for SMEs meeting certain conditions.
- Cap per workplace: ¥100 million a year.
What it is for
Training linked to a new business, DX or GX initiative, and needed for the employee's job. Generic courses unrelated to the role do not qualify. The guidelines were revised on 3 August 2026, so check the current version.
Timing and steps
- This course is temporary and runs until the end of fiscal 2026 (March 2027).
- Submit the training plan (職業訓練実施計画届) to the Labour Bureau before training starts, then file the payment claim on time afterward.
