The Ministry of Labour's 働き方改革推進支援助成金 helps SMEs reduce overtime and improve time off. In fiscal 2026 the 業種別課題対応コース (industry-specific course) targets sectors with tougher working-hour rules.
Who can apply
SMEs covered by workers' accident insurance (労災保険) whose main business is construction, transport (drivers), hospitals and clinics, sugar production (Kagoshima/Okinawa), information and communications (情報通信業) or lodging. You need an annual leave register (年休管理簿) and, with 10+ staff, work rules on leave filed with the Labour Standards Office.
What it pays for
At least one improvement, such as labor management software (労務管理用ソフトウェア), time-tracking equipment, digital tachographs, consulting, training, revising work rules or other efficiency equipment. As a rule cars, PCs, tablets and smartphones are not covered.
How much
The lower of the cap for the goal you pick (for example, lowering the overtime limit in your 36 agreement or introducing hourly leave) and 3/4 of costs (4/5 in some cases with up to 30 staff). There are add-ons for raising wages.
Deadlines
- Apply by 30 November 2026, 17:00, at your prefecture's Labour Bureau. It may close early if the budget runs out.
- Improvements must be done by 31 January 2027.
