Many cities offer small but fast subsidies that stack with national ones. Two near us in Kosai had digitalization programs in 2026.
Kosai: 湖西市中小企業経営力向上支援補助金（DX推進支援）
- Who: SMEs with their main workplace in Kosai.
- What it pays: digital tools that raise productivity, such as buying or developing software, outsourcing and cloud usage.
- How much: 1/2 of costs, up to ¥200,000.
- Key rule: submit the application at least 14 days before the project starts.
- Status: in 2026 the budget ran out and applications closed (notice of 3 Sep 2026). Worth preparing for next fiscal year.
Hamamatsu: AIエージェント導入支援事業費補助金
- Who: SMEs with their main shop, factory, office or branch in Hamamatsu, with city taxes paid.
- What it pays: introducing AI agents (software that carries out tasks autonomously), including licenses, setup, integration with existing systems, prorated subscriptions and implementation consulting.
- How much: 1/2 of costs, from ¥500,000 to ¥5 million per project.
- Status: the 3rd call ran from 3 Aug to 30 Sep 2026 and projects must finish by 15 Dec 2026. Online applications need a commercial registration e-certificate (companies) or a My Number Card (individuals).
In both cases nothing may be ordered or paid before approval, and every cost needs a quote.
