According to GitStarClub, in July 2026 tracked repositories gained about 2.5 million stars together. At the top was mattpocock/skills, with +48,059 stars that month (about 253k total). Next: DietrichGebert/ponytail (+30.6k), Graphify-Labs/graphify (+26.2k), obra/superpowers (+23.9k) and msitarzewski/agency-agents (+21.3k).
Month theme: skills and agents
The board is dominated by AI agent skill packs, coding-agent frameworks and scraping/orchestration tools. Strong gainers also included OpenCut-app/OpenCut, usestrix/strix, Panniantong/Agent-Reach, NousResearch/hermes-agent and firecrawl/firecrawl. By growth rate, ponytail led at about +141%.
Why it matters
Stars alone do not measure quality, but they show where developer attention went in July: packaging reusable agent capabilities, not only new models. For product teams, that shifts the backlog: skills and agent integration become a requirement, not an experiment.
