What happened
Between October 7 and 8, 2026, OpenAI began rolling out GPT-6 with Intelligent UI in ChatGPT's Chat tab: paid tiers first, then Free and Go on October 8. Plus/Pro/Business/Enterprise get GPT-6 Sol; Free/Go get GPT-6 Luna. Models behind Work and Codex are unchanged. OpenAI says GPT-6 Instant starts answering web-search questions 44% sooner on average than GPT-5.6 Instant.
Intelligent UI
A reply can go beyond text and generate comparison tables, buttons, forms, charts, simple calculators or games, rendered as they stream via a component library and a compiler.
Decisions API
In the same window the Decisions API — picks one option from a fixed set and returns a probability — opened in public beta on GPT-6 Luna: $0.10 per million input tokens, no output billing, and OpenAI reports a 10× speedup over a normal response. On October 8, GPT-6.1 Sol's Ultrafast tier opened to all API users.
Why it matters
The default shape of a chatbot reply shifts from "text" to "text or a small app". Apps whose job was a table or a checklist now compete with a single ChatGPT answer. The Decisions API suits gate calls in agent harnesses ("pass or roll back").
What to do now
- Try the Decisions API at approval gates in your harness.
- Treat the 44% and "10×" figures as vendor data until you measure your own case.
- Review internal products that only show simple tables or forms.
